Scoring

Every number on this page is read from the scoring configuration, so it matches what the engine actually awards.

Tiers

Before Week 1, all sixteen SEC teams are sorted into four tiers based on preseason expectations — the AP poll where it reaches, betting win totals below that. Lower tiers score at a higher multiplier, so the teams nobody expects anything from pay double when they win.

Weekly points

Win

Correct game of the week pick

Game points are multiplied by the tier of the team that earned them. Snapshot points are not — they count the same for every team. During a rivalry week the game of the week is worth double.

Entry and payout

Entry

To the animal shelter
$0
Operating costs
$0
Prize pool
$0
Last place refund
$0

Winner takes the pool. Last place gets their entry back. Each participant also sets a voluntary pledge — a share of any winnings that goes back to the shelter.

Where the money goes

Entries are collected by Contests for a Cause, which holds the funds and pays out at the end of the season. That's how the three-way split works — the charity share, the prize pool, and operating costs all come out of the same $0.

Because entries are paid to Contests for a Cause rather than to the animal shelter directly, your entry is not a tax-deductible donation. The charity share is remitted to the animal shelter after the SEC Championship, and the total is posted here when it's sent.
